About APPS

Asian Paediatric Pulmonology Society

https://www.appuls.org

The Asian Paediatric Pulmonology Society (APPS) is a professional organization established in 2014 by paediatric pulmonologists across Asia, dedicated to improve the care of children with respiratory diseases, which continue to pose a significant health burden across the region despite its diverse cultural, geographic, and resource settings. As a collaborative regional platform, APPS brings together clinicians, educators, and researchers to promote excellence in paediatric respiratory medicine through capacity building, knowledge exchange, and academic leadership. The Society advances its mission through flagship initiatives including its annual scientific congress, the Pediatric Respirology and Critical Care Medicine (PRCCM) journal, the APPS Grand Round online academic series, and the development of regionally relevant clinical practice guidelines. Through these sustained efforts, APPS strives to lead progress in clinical practice, education, and research, while strengthening professional networks and improving respiratory health outcomes for children across Asia.

About HKSPRA

Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Respirology and Allergy

http://www.hkspra.org

Respiratory diseases are the commonest diseases affecting children as well as being the commonest cause of serious life-threatening diseases requiring intensive care in the world. With the aim of promoting the practice of paediatric respirology in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Respirology (HKSPR), a registered charitable organization, was founded in 1997 to promote the development of paediatric respiratory medicine and critical care. On 25 June 2015, it was officially renamed as “Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Respirology and Allergy” to reflect the scope of the Society as allergy is an important component in paediatric respiratory medicine. The society is committed to maintaining and improving the quality of diagnostic and treatment services for paediatric respiratory and allergic diseases in Hong Kong. The office bearers and council members have been working hard to promote the works of the Society. We have around 220 members, they include doctors and allied-health professionals (paediatric nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, etc). Each year, we organise our Annual Scientific Meeting in October/November. There are other special workshops (eg Allergy Workshop, Asthma Workshop, Bronchoscopy Course, Lung Function Workshop, NIV Workshop, Sleep Course, etc) we organise from time to time. HKSPRA publishes a journal “Pediatric Respirology and Critical Care Medicine” jointly with Asian Paediatric Pulmonology and Society & Society of Pediatric Pulmonology, Taiwan from Jan 2017. The Journal is open access journal indexed in DOAJ and no fee is charged to authors. It is published quarterly.
